Laundry day was a special day for Sam and Frodo. They got to wander all over the dirty laundry and the smellier the better, as far as they were concerned. If they were in charge, no laundry would have ever made it into the washine machine.

The number of times he would just go on a wander ... he seemed to have a purpose but we never figured out what it was. Whether he was following a scent or just taking a stroll, he was happiest when he was left to his own sevices in a wide open space..

Shredded string cheese was a real favorite for all the possums. And it was a hell of a lot more pleasant to be around than the stinky raw liver concoction that formed the real basis of their diet. Apart from meal times, it also became very much a treat and they never let a good treat go by!

Starting all over again with a six-pack of babies was a real challenge. Initially they had to be syringe-fed, then weaned onto liquid-lapping before they finally progressed to the shredded cheese and raw liver blend ... hmmmm, makes me drool at the thought!

It wasn't just Bitey that was a little nipper when he was young. Most of them were happy to chew on Morgan. Her arms bore the mark of their love-tattoos as she called them. And she wore the tiny scars with pride long after they stopped biting.

I remember the day we let them on the bottom step of the stairs and then watched in awe as they climbed to the top without the slightest problem.We shot this on their first day, thinking we would be lucky for them to get over the first step. Little did we know!
